Creating Your Whale Armature
1 Build Your
Armature
Begin drawing out your whale to cut out of
cardboard.
Place your whale into a plastic bag and shape with
lots of mashing tape.
2 Paper Clay Your Little Whales
Paper Clay: Cover the entire whale with about 1/4
inch layer of paper clay, doing one side at a time and letting that completely
dry. Apply the homemade paper clay with your hands and smooth with paper mache
paste, butter knife, etc. You can let your paper clay dry for about 6 or more
hours and then smooth more with paste.
Now it's time to let your little whale plate (tray) dry
completely in the sun or in front of the fan for 2 to 3 days. It is important
that it completely dries before moving on.

3. Paint the little whales
Paint a white coat of paint on your whale to give
you a white canvas for painting on.
Once the base coat as dried paint with acrylics
anyway you like. Let this completely dry.
You must seal your paper clay pieces with 3 to 4
coats varnish for protection. Varnish comes in a spray can in gloss or stain.
This is just one way to make a little whale; we
would love to hear your thoughts and see the little paper clay whales that you
have made.
